BYD Joins the International Automotive Task Force (IATF)

BYD has recently officially joined the International Automotive Task Force (IATF). As a global leader in new energy vehicles, BYD will participate alongside international automotive giants such as Volkswagen and General Motors in the formulation of core international standards. This milestone marks a significant step for Chinese automotive enterprises in the realm of international standardization.

The IATF is a globally recognized authority in automotive quality management systems, historically dominated by European and American automotive companies. BYD's admission, following nomination by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and approval through a vote by all IATF members, not only highlights the growing global influence of China's automotive industry but also confirms that its core technologies and quality management systems have earned international recognition.

Founded in 1999, the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) includes as its founding members the automotive industry associations from five major automotive nations: AIAG (USA), ANFIA (Italy), FIEV (France), SMMT (UK), and VDA (Germany), along with several leading vehicle manufacturers. The IATF is renowned for its certification schemes and rules. It has established a unified language for quality management across the global automotive supply chain. Its certifications are widely recognized by numerous major vehicle manufacturers worldwide and serve as a key benchmark for quality assurance when entering the international automotive supply chain.

BYD's accession is expected to have a profound impact on the global automotive industry. It not only signifies the Chinese automotive industry's transition from "quantitative accumulation" to "technological leadership" but also validates BYD's core strengths as a world champion in the new energy vehicle sector. Leveraging its technological advantages in electrification and intelligence, BYD will deepen collaboration with the IATF, its members, and oversight bodies like the International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB). Upholding the shared philosophy of "Go Global, Grow Local," BYD aims to help the global automotive standards system effectively navigate industrial transformation challenges, ensuring it meets current industry needs while possessing the capability for continuous evolution in the future.
